Mental Health Association in Ulster County, Inc.

About This Affiliate
The Mental Health Association in Ulster County, Inc. (MHA) is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit agency. MHA is an education and advocacy organization raising awareness about mental illness and advocating for people here living with a mental illness. We have deep roots in the community; MHA has been operating in Ulster County for over 50 years.

Over the years, as an advocacy agency, MHA has found gaps in services for those living with and recovering from mental illness. In consultation with community partners MHA has repeatedly stepped up to the plate to offer services where none had existed before or established programs had become unsustainable. Today we provide a wide spectrum of services to children, families and adults. When Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee devastated much of the region last year MHA took on the NYSOMH/FEMA funded Project Hope to provide community disaster mental health services to those affected by the floods in Ulster and Delaware counties. When it became clear there was a local need for services for people dealing with eating disorders MHA began offering a variety of support groups and facilitated the Ulster County Eating Disorder Coalition.
