About This Affiliate
MENTAL HEALTH AMERICA OF GREATER AUGUSTA, INC., is made up of volunteers dedicated to being a strong voice for public and private efforts in support of mental health and the prevention of mental illness.
Our members are committed to defining and communicating the mental health needs of the CSRA. Among our members are interested individuals, businesses, students, families, as well as local mental health professionals and recipients.
We were chartered in 1954 by the Georgia Association for Mental Health, Inc. In 1977, we initiated the Friendship Community Center, a socialization program for the chronically mentally ill and a supportive link to the community for those recently discharged from mental hospitals. The Center is funded through the United Way and government grants.
